The following information may be of benefit to you if you have suffered a whiplash injury following an accident:
Do not take any chances with your health. Always go to the local Accident & Emergency unit or your GP for advice after an injury of this nature.
Generally it is possible to a make very reasonable recovery from your neck injury. The sooner you start your recovery with the aid of medication, rest and possibly physiotherapy – the quicker you are likely to reach the recovery stage.
If such injuries have been sustained they would in normal circumstances, be easily and quickly identifiable.
This can usually be a good sign. The delayed reaction means that serious damage may have been avoided. That is not to say that your symptoms will not be severe initially, but in very general terms the outlook should be optimistic and a full recovery possible.
Most doctors refer to whiplash when they discuss neck pain but it is also possible to suffer mid to low back pain as a result of the rapid acceleration / deceleration type injury associated with whiplash.
There are additional symptoms associated with whiplash injuries and they relate to dizziness, headaches, nausea, pain in the jaw. It is even possible to suffer tinnitus as a result of the violent shaking or jerking that results from car accidents.
